PANJIM: Even as the city fathers grapple with the implementation of pay parking in the city as traffic congestion reigns supreme, the EDC has begun pay parking at Patto Plaza from February.
The pay parking will be implemented through its authorized Contractor, M/s Goa Force 10 Security Consultant Pvt Ltd.
EDC has, through advertisements, notified that any vehicles parked on the roads except at designated parking lots, on foot paths, open spaces and vehicles parked in wrong category of parking lots and not following traffic signs like ‘no entry’, ‘One-way’ and any vehicle parked continuously at one place for more than 72 hours, would be locked or towed away by the contractor. These vehicles will be released on payment of penalty of Rs 500 per four wheelers and Rs 100 for two or three wheelers.
Government vehicles too are required to pay the parking fees but Raj Bhavan vehicles, offical vehicles of Ministers and Judges of court of law, are exempt from payment of parking fee.
For vehicles parked beyond 24 hours, the parking fee payable to the Contractor shall be Rs 30/ per hour and Rs 8/ per hour for Car / Jeep and Two / Three wheelers respectively.
