Counterfeit currency notes have once again come to haunt the Margao police.
The police have registered a case against unknown persons after a leading private bank complained that they have detected currency notes amounting to Rs 23,200.
The bank has maintained that it has detected fake currency notes in the denomination of Rs 1000 (six), Rs 500 (34) and two one hundred notes.
Incidentally, the bank has told the police that it has detected the notes from March 2009 to April 2010. The police admitted that the same bank had on more than one occasion detected counterfeit notes, adding that the Margao police are still investigating into the cases registered against unknown persons.
