MOPA: Mopa link road affected farmers have now appealed adjacent villages to extend their support to stop the work of link road. Letters are submitted to six panchayats including Warkhand Nagzar, Dhargal, Tamboxem-Mopa-Ugvem, Ambere-Porascadem, Casarvane and Chandel-Hasapur as well as to Collector North, Director of Civil Aviation and Superintendent of Police, North Goa.
In the letter, the affected farmers under the banner of ‘Mopa Vimantal Panchkroshi Pidit Jan Sanghatana’ stated that illegal construction work is going on at Mopa airport without obtaining proper construction licenses from the concerned authorities.
As per the honorable Supreme Court of India in its judgment with regards to the construction of greenfield airport at Mopa has clearly pronounced that the construction of the structures shall be undertaken as per the plans approved by the concerned local authorities/local administration, meticulously confirming to the existing local and central rules and regulations.
The company developing the airport failed to obtain the said permission as per The Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 and has commenced the construction of illegal structures in the said airport premises, work is going on by violating all the conditions of supreme court judgment related to Mopa airport.
Through the letter, the farmer’s have requested to stop all the illegal construction connected with Mopa airport which have commenced without the prior approvals as per said act in the airport premises and in buffer zone of Mopa Airport which comes under the jurisdiction of the six Panchayats with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday the contractor completed the work of bulldozing the trees and has commenced leveling of land for the Link road with more speed.
