VALPOI: Pissurlem village farmers held a special meeting on the issues which they are facing due to the ongoing transportation of dumped ore through their village and decided to hold protest in front of Valpoi Deputy Collector office. Around 60 plus farmers attended the meeting.
“We have decided in the meeting that to hold a protest in front of Valpoi Deputy Collector office and later on we will stop the ongoing ore transport from our village,” said a farmer Hanuman Parab.
According to the farmers two days ago they have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister at his residence regarding the supply of water from mining pits to the agriculture fields, removal of mud from fields, provide the compensation from mining companies and stop the air pollution. The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has failed to fulfill his promise. The Chief Minister had told them that he will inform the Deputy Collector to solve their problems. But the chief minister failed to solve their issues. He have not inform any Government officials, they alleged.
“Chief Minister, government officials and mining companies are not bothered to solve farmers’ issues. They are all busy in making huge money from dump ore transportation and nothing else,” said a farmer.
