Finally, Sanguem to get Deputy Collector on Oct 1

SANGUEM: After a long wait and after having missed several dates, the Sanguem taluka will finally get its own independent office of Sub Divisional Officer and Deputy Collector on October 1.
The new office, to be housed in the old Sanguem Municipal Council Office, will be inaugurated by Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte. The inaugural function will also attended by Agriculture Minister Vijay Sardessai, Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar, SMC Chairperson Romualdo Fernandes, Deputy Collector Quepem Rohit Kadam, Sanguem Mamlatdar Laxmikant Desai and others.
Since last over two years, there has been a demand for opening deputy collector’s office in Sanguem and for that purpose, government was searching for an appropriate office to house the office in Sanguem.
While earlier there were moves to get the office housed in the Government Office Complex at Sanguem, it failed to achieve any results for lack of proper space.
However, with the recent shifting of the Sanguem Municipal Council Office to the new building premise, the long awaited people’s demand from Sanguem finally came to be resolved with the SMC providing its old office to house the Deputy Collector’s Office.
It is pertinent that in the absence of independent office of deputy collector, the people from Sanguem had to travel to Quepem for cases pertaining to partitions, resurvey, mundkar and tenancy appeals and also for matters pertaining to petty criminal offences where people had to give bond for maintaining peace under Section 151 of CrPC.
The availability of the Deputy Collector at the Sanguem Office will now ease several problems faced by the people from Sanguem. The opening of new office in Sanguem will not only save people’s time, but more importantly will avoid futile trips to Quepem.
