MARGAO: The long pending issue of Sonsoddo has become a headache for Margao people as well as the Margao Municipal Council.
With the issue lingering for decades, the files pertaining to Sonsoddo have piled up and now scattered all over making it tough for MMC in finding the files of Sonsoddo.
MMC chief officer, who has taken charge, recently, has to deal with this logistical problem every day. Whenever the administration is asked for certain information from a certain date, the officials send a large bundle of files rolled in a “saree” after which the concerned are left to find the necessary information for themselves. The entire technical section of the MMC has been assigned the job to sit with the files and extract the papers that are asked for.
With the administrative mess over Sonsoddo haunting the municipality, no officer is willing to take the assignment of the chief officer. The officers posted here eagerly await their transfer from day one.
The chief officer has an uphill task to find the documentation as the arbitration is underway between Fomento Green and MMC.
When the chief officer asks for one file, the employees and officials have been handing over a bundle of thousands of papers. Hence, he has ordered the technical section to arrange the files and only provide the required paper which is asked for.
“The files and important papers within them concerning the Sonsoddo are required now and then in Court. Hence, the section has been asked to arrange the papers,” Chief Officer Ajit Panchwadkar said.
