MARGAO: Fire broke out at the Sonsodo waste dump yard on Friday evening, indicating that all is still not well at the dump yard.l
Two fire tenders from the Margao fire brigade fought for a considerable time to bring the fire under control.
Sources in the know said that the fire broke out in the open dumping site close to the entrance gate. The fire was first spotted by the workers employed at the treatment plant, who immediately alerted the fire brigade.
Before the fire brigade could reach the spot, the employees had already started the fire fighting operation with the infrastructure put in place at the treatment site.
When contacted, both the fire brigade and workers manning the Sonsodo plant site said the fire was minor in nature and was brought under control.
