The fire brigade, which was intimated of the incident at around 11.10 am, said that household items, consisting of a TV and sofa set, furniture, clothes, wardrobe etc., were gutted in the fire. While Fire Officer Gill de Souza has put the total loss of property to Rs 1.50 lakh, the owner Vilas Cardozo has estimated the total loss to around Rs 10 lakh.
“The entire house and the items have been damaged in the fire,” he told newsmen.
Fire services have attributed the fire to a suspected short circuit. The inmates were out of the house when the incident occurred and the fire was first noticed by residents of an adjoining building.
