MARGAO: Former deputy chief minister Vijai Sardessai has asserted the need to include agriculture in school curriculum if green Goa has to be maintained for posterity and led school children in manually transplanting paddy crop in a field at Fatorda.
The school students mostly from primary schools were quite excited to step in the mucky field and some were seen transplanting very carefully and full of zest as they were guided by local farmers on how to plant the paddy sapling.
These children had earlier participated in a 15 day agriculture camp where they were taught various aspects of agriculture including vermi composting and hence today was a practical experience of what they had learnt in theory.
