Vasco: Foreign currency was seized at Dabolim Airport by the officials of Air Intelligence Unit of Customs Department of Goa. The team on Sunday seized currency worth Rs 14.08 lakh from an international transit passenger.
The action was taken on information based on intelligence received from the Air India Bangalore-Goa flight AI-993. The team searched one passenger on the arrival of the flight at Goa. The team of officers of Goa customs was headed by N.G. Patel, Assistant Commissioner of Customs. The international transit passenger who boarded the flight at Bangalore going to Dubai was detained after finding the above currency.
Foreign currency 76,115 AED equivalent to Indian Rs 14.08 Lakhs was recovered from the said transit passenger and seized under the provisions of Customs act 1962.
The Goa customs has till date seized 3.5 kgs of gold valued at Rs 1 crore, commercial goods worth Rs 35.57 lakhs and foreign currency worth Rs 14.08 lakhs during the financial year 2018-19.
