PONDA: The Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said the foundation stones for the Khandepar bridge will be laid on December 19, Zuari bridge and Talpona-Galgibaga bridges in Canacona on January 26 and that the decision regarding the proposed Raia-Rachol bridge will be taken after meeting the people of Raia-Rachol.
“All the bridges on waterways in Goa will be completed before the five-year term of my government comes to an end. About 12 bridges are likely to be constructed. Besides, four-lane and six-lane highways will also be developed in the State,” he said.
Parrikar was speaking at the inauguration of the office of South Goa MP Adv Narendra Savoikar at Ponda. Adv Savoikar, Industries Minister Mahadev Naik, MLAs Lavoo Mamledar, Dr Pramod Sawant, Ganesh Gaonkar, Subhash Faldesai, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar, former MLA Damu Naik, Sadanand Tanawade, Adv Vishwas Satarkar, Sandeep Nigle, Ponda councillors and panch members were present on the occasion.
Appealing to Goans not to fell prey to rumours spread about price hike by the BJP government, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar asked the people to have patience, as the State and Central governments need some time to bring the situation under control, which was worsened by the Congress government.
“Presently, tough decisions are taken including railway fair hike by the government for the betterment of railway passengers. The revenue generated can be spent to provide better facilities,” he said and added that rumours were spread that the government hiked the prices of LPG gas when in reality the price hiked was that of commercial gas.
Commenting on PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar’s statement on pub culture and bikinis, he said some discipline is required to be observed by the people from all spheres.
“When we say that every person has freedom of right to speech and expression, he expressed his views. As long as you don’t abuse or speak bad about others, you can express your views. Hence, there is no need to make chaos.” said Parrikar.
Savoikar said he will be available at Ponda office every Wednesday.
