MARGAO: He was one of the lucky survivors from the tragedy that struck Canacona.
Middle aged Laxman Gaonkar from Barcem had a close shave after he sustained multiple injuries following the building collapse, but was lucky enough to survive. He told the media at the Hospicio hospital that he along with another person from Barcem were the only two persons from the village working at the construction site. “I along with another person were the only people from Barcem working there. There were many others engaged in the construction work when the building came crashing down,” Gaonkar recalled.
Replying to a question, he said there were some Goans who were part of the work force trapped inside the building.
