VASCO- The Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has said the garbage treatment plant at IDC Verna will soon be a reality, catering to the village panchayat bodies in Mormugao taluka and its surrounding localities. The garbage treatment plant at IDC Verna will be based on the grounds of the Saligao garbage treatment plant, free from stink.
He was speaking to the pressmen at Chicalim after launching the cleanliness drive for all 185 panchayat bodies in the state as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Mauvin said nearly 50,000 sq mts was needed for the garbage treatment plant at IDC Verna. He was confident the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar would allocate the required land to set up a garbage treatment plant at IDC Verna as the village panchayat bodies in Mormugao taluka could not set up garbage treatment plant within 12 kilometers radius in order to avoid bird hit incidents at Dabolim airport.
Godinho urged the people not to oppose the garbage treatment plant which is proposed at IDC Verna as it would be based on Saligao treatment plant which is free from stink and useful for generating power supply.
He said he would personally visit all the panchayat bodies in the state after the panchayat elections in order to listen to the grievances of the people. He said he would take feedback from people during his visit to the panchayatsto know about the works delivered by the Sarpanch and panchas in their respective wards.
