GBS wants 27% reservation in Assembly polls

PANJIM: After the municipal polls, the Gomantak Bhandari Samaj (GBS) now demands that 27 percent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) be given in the State Legislative Assembly, polls beginning from the 2017 elections.

GBS on Wednesday announced it would lead a delegation to the Center to put forth their demand. The GBS members would also petition Union AYUSH minister Shripad Naik and South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar on the matter.
Stating this to the media, GBS president Anil Hoble also announced a convention of the Bhadari Samaj and 18 other OBC communities on October 4, wherein detailed data on the OBC population, number of OBC members employed in government services, unemployed, uneducated, etc would be released.
GBS has already formed State level gram committees to collect the data.
