Apparently the bad blood that flowed and the repercussions of the fall out took its toll on the GCA chief. The police complaints and counter complaints and the cricket club members storming the GCA premises had ruffled Dr Salkar who desperately wanted to sort things out quickly.
However, a long discussion failed to materialise but Dr Salkar could only manage a brief meeting with Parrikar in Panjim on Thursday evening.
“Due to heavy rains I reached late for the meeting and met Manohar Parrikar in the lift. He asked me what was going wrong in the GCA and I said everything was ok,” Dr Salkar said.
Meanwhile, in another “dusra” Dr Salkar suspended Chetan Desai from the post of secretary yet again within 24 hours of reinstating him amid high drama at the GCA headquarters.
Dr Salkar has also passed an interim order and lodged a FIR at the Porvorim police station after claiming that a group of 100 people led by Desai had forced him to sign a document reinstating Desai on the chair.
“I had no other option but to sign the document as it was concerning my security. Today (on Thursday) we have suspended him again,” Dr Salkar confirmed.
“The letter allegedly given by me on June 17 purporting to appoint Chetan Desai as secretary of GCA was given under duress and without my consent and will, for which a detailed FIR has been filed with Porvorim police station on June 17 itself,” said Dr Salkar.
