Gleeful GFP chief vows to field men from Margao wards for civic polls

MARGAO: With Congress joining hands with BJP in Margao, the commercial capital is fair game for the Goa Forward Party (GFP) whose leader has vowed to field candidates from Margao wards for municipal polls.
Addressing the press after the election of GFP supported candidate Pooja Naik as municipal chairwoman on Friday, Vijai Sardessai challenged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to stop naming of the road after late Manohar Parrikar and also the installation of the statue.
Vijai said, “We have defeated illegitimate and immoral marriage of convenience of two national parties trying to subjugate regional leaders and regional party Goa forward which takes up Goa centric issues.”
“Next month on the 13th we are going to inaugurate Manohar Parrikar road, the same road against which BJP has voted today. The BJP has given Manohar Parrikar memorial at the IFFI and is contradicting their stand here in Margao. Babita’s has given up her post for the commitment of naming the road in the name of Manohar Parrikar. This is a tight slap on the immoral and legitimate marriages of convenience,” said Vijai.
“It is a dangerous time for Goa. CM and Leader of Opposition come together for a small issue like municipal chairperson post which we have left, then who is going to take up the real issues of Goa?” Vijai questioned.
“From here we have sent a signal that you do as much match-fixing, but people are not going to accept you,” Vijai said.
Reaching out to national leadership of Congress Vijai said, “The national leadership of Congress especially Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have to take note of this development when they are taking time to decide an alliance in Maharashtra because of the past record of Shiv Sena, here their leaders are openly associating with the BJP,” Vijai said adding that the association is proven as the association got 12 votes questioning whether they will field candidates together in the upcoming Municipal elections and campaign together.
Vijay said that if the above happens then they won’t have any option rather than fielding candidates in Margao against them. “We will have to expand into Margao as the people of Margao won’t get justice because of match-fixing,” Vijai said adding, “The condition of Margao is not something which can be celebrated, Fatorda is much better than Margao.”
