BAMBOLIM: The Goa Medical College, resident doctors’ protest against the brutal rape and murder of an intern doctor at Kolkata was called off on Tuesday evening. The protest was withdrawn after the fifth day.
Doctors said they were calling off the protest in view of the positive response received from the Dean of GMC and the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. They also said that sufficient awareness had been created among the people on the issue of safety of doctors and medical staff.
Earlier the Goa Association of Resident Doctors submitted a memorandum to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane identifying safety and other issues. Vishwajit Rane who visited the GMC and met the resident doctors and the Dean, assured that all security measures will be taken to ensure safety of lady doctors. Though the strike is called off protest in other forms will continue till the Kolkata victim gets justice, they said.
OPD and other emergency service in GMC were running we are doing 24 hours service they said.
