PANJIM: A brutal scuffle between two drunken tourists occurred outside Garcia de Orta garden, Panjim on Tuesday in broad daylight. Police confirmed that they hailed from Kerala. The scuffle led to one sustaining severe injuries and profuse bleeding.
Panjim police stated that they found only two individuals, and both were brothers. Since no complaint has been filed no arrests have been made. One of the brothers has been sent to the Goa Medical College for treatment.
One woman eye witness said that the severely injured tourist was hit with a brick. Locals immediately intervened and called the police. The injured tourists were sent to hospital. Angry eye witnesses questioned they about the fight. They said that due to drunken tourists brawls, the name of Goa is getting spoilt. They should drink to their limit, they stated.
Questioning one of the tourists who assaulted another, one Goan asked him, “Why did you assault him? He is bleeding severely. Is he your friend? What would you do if he died? Do you come here to drink and fight?”
Another eyewitness said, “Three of them were fighting. They were literally rolling on the ground and fighting. Then one took a stone and hit the other.”
One woman eye witness said, “One tourist was sleeping the other came with a brick and hit him on his head.”
