The Goa Legislative Assembly on Monday passed the State Budget 2026–27 amid chaotic scenes in the House, with Opposition MLAs protesting and later being marshalled out.
The budget was cleared in view of the Model Code of Conduct being in force in parts of South Goa following the announcement of the Ponda by-election.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant refused to opt for a Vote on Account, instead pushing for the passage of the full budget before the House. The decision triggered strong objections from Opposition members, who raised slogans and protested during the proceedings.
As the protests intensified, several Opposition MLAs were marshalled out of the House, after which the Assembly proceeded to pass the State Budget for the financial year 2026–27.
