Borgo has lived in Calangute for 15 years, in a home which she was inducted after paying consideration to the now deceased owner, has suddenly found herself held hostage in the same house surrounded by whom she claims are goons sent by his widow and current “owner” of the property”, who have cut off her electricity and water, to force her to leave and hand over the property.
While the matter is civil, the criminal complaint filed by her of her home being trespassed and her being threatened and held prisoner has had absolutely no response.
Since the conflict originated earlier and she suspected action of this sort, she hired security guards. But in her complaint, she has stated that her security guards are called to the police station
for questioning.
But the “hired” goons of the widow of the original owner are outside her home and keep banging on the door and threatening her.
She has also made a representation to the French Embassy and appeal to the Prime Minister’s office.
Borgo has resided in H No E-1/2 existing in survey no11/14 Calangute for 15 years and has been allegedly held hostage since January 23 by around eight “goons” * (*from her complaint) who have surrounded the house and restricted people meeting the complainant.
Meanwhile, in her written complaint lodged with the Calangute police against Nirmala Acharya e Souza, the supposed wife of the owner, she stated, “I am residing in the house all alone and the goons and other anti-social elements that have been stationed around my house are preventing even food and medication to be supplied to me and I am held hostage and confined to the house as if I am on house arrest.
“As the police failed in their duty of protecting me and on the contrary justified the presence of unauthorised persons on the patio of my house and having failed to register an FIR, I have made a representation to the French Embassy and an appeal to the Prime Minister of India, through the French Embassy to ensure my to ensure my safety and my protection at the hands of the antisocial elements/hired goons,” the complaint stated.
The complainant has also filed a case for injunction in trial court to support her legal claim of a house she bought in 2008 from a lawyer Francisco Sousa, now deceased. After Sousa’s demise of Covid symptoms in 2021, his widow Nirmala Sousa started harassing Borgo, frequently trying to vacate the house, even while the case is sub-judice. The suit was filed in the year 2021. The suit is presently pending disposal in Court.
The complaint stated that stating that she resides in the said House and was inducted therein in August 2019 till date by the late Francisco Do Rosario Agnelo Souza from whom she purchased the said house in 2008 however at the time of purchase she had paid Francisco Do Rosario Agnelo Souza, who had thereafter agreed to execute the sale deed in my favour.
She added in her complaint that during the covid outbreak, Francisco Do Rosario Agnelo Souza, expired followed which his widow the said Nirmala Acharya e Souza, started harassing the complainant and threatened to dispose of her and filed false police complaints.
