ANJUNA: Noise pollution on account of nerve-raking and ear-blaring music continues to haunt the residents of the coastal belt of Anjuna.
The residents complain that not only during weekends but for the past several nights, Anjuna has witnessed loud music parties which continue till 7 am the next day right under the nose of the men in uniform.

A poster of one such party organised on November 25 went viral, clearly stating it’s an overnight Techno.
According to High Court orders, the police are supposed to patrol the area and curb such activities.
The guidelines state that any function or party where loud music is being played should wind up by 10 pm. However, the organisers of such parties, which commence after 10 pm or 11 pm, are found flouting rules by playing loud music beyond 89 decibels till the next morning, the residents claimed.
The locals complained that these parties are causing mental trauma to the residents especially children, who have to attend school the next day, and even senior citizens.
They further alleged that famous nightclubs and restaurants in Vagator just opposite the Anjuna Police Station were found playing loud music beyond the permissible limit last weekend. They further accused the local police of playing mute spectators by failing to initiate action despite several complaints.
The locals claimed that when the police team reaches the spot, they find nothing and alleged that the organisers are informed well in advance about the arrival of the men in uniform.
They said when they complain to the police informing them about such parties, the cops say no such incidents are reported.
One such written complaint was filed with Anjuna Police on November 23 by residents of Gaonkar Vaddo, Anjuna stating that the Chizzale Night Club located in the ward is playing loud music since last weekend from 10 pm to 8 am the next day thereby forcing the residents, especially senior citizens and children to undergo sleepless night.
Dominic Pereira, a member of the Anjuna Noise Pollution Committee said, “Several complaints have been made to the police. However, there is no action from the police who are hand-in-glove with these organisers by allowing them to play music the entire night and the people are left to suffer. Police and the PCR don’t respond to calls related to noise pollution.”
Anjuna PI Prashal Desai said, “We did not receive any written complaint of parties playing loud music. We received calls informing us about the same. However, when our staff reached the spot, there was nothing.”
Desmond Alvares, a resident of Assagao and former member of Anjuna Noise Pollution Committee said, “Every night, rave parties are going on and loud music is played. Despite the contempt petition, Anjuna Police care two hoots for any High Court orders, since the men in uniform have not yet been held accountable and unless the High Court stamps on the back of the police, the authorities and the rave party venues and everything else will continue.”
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is on record stating that most calls with regard to complaints against loud music parties are hoaxes.

ANJUNA: Bookings for several trance and DJ night parties have opened up online.
As per the details provided on the websites, these DJ and techno parties are scheduled for several days in December and people can book their tickets online. The venue for these parties is mentioned as Vagator, Goa.
The venue will be having new and different names of the DJs.
However, when Herald Team enquired with the local police whether the organisers of these parties have obtained permission, Anjuna PI Prashal Desai replied in the negative.

MAPUSA: In the letter to Deputy Collector Bardez and under Rule 2 (C) of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, president of Anjuna Noise Pollution Committee Dominic Pereira stated that Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi has blocked his phone number which is in contempt of court.
Pereira stated that the dedicated PCR No 112 is also not responding to the residents’ calls regarding noise Pollution, which is also in contempt of court.
The liaison officers whose phone numbers published by the North Goa Collector also not responding/taking calls of the residents affected by noise pollution.
Perreira said Chizzale Beach Club in Anjuna is allegedly playing loud music up to wee hours without obtaining necessary prior permission from the competent authority and in this regard, complaints have been filed by Anthony D’Souza and Agnelo Baptist D’Souza.
When contacted Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi said, “My phone was damaged after it fell in water due to which my number was not active. I have not blocked anybody.”
