During the launch, SP (Crime) Rahul Gupta, IPS, emphasised that the initiatives aim to disseminate authentic information, foster public engagement, and build trust between the Goa Police and the community.

Highlighting the roadmap for the WhatsApp Channel, Gupta said it will provide real-time updates on crime detection, traffic alerts, and emergency notifications. It will also promote awareness on road safety, cyber safety, and drug abuse prevention, while informing the public about community-oriented events.

The newly launched YouTube Channel will feature in-depth programmes on successful crime detection, educational content, and Q&A sessions led by various SPs. It will also include in-house coverage of Goa Police programmes, with live telecasts of significant events.

SP Tikam Singh Verma, IPS, introduced Project Netra, which involves the strategic installation of 2,500 CCTV cameras across the state to bolster law enforcement capabilities. This initiative aims to deter criminal activity, assist in crime detection and evidence collection, aid in traffic control, prevent accidents, and protect public property through continuous monitoring and surveillance.

Verma highlighted that the project includes detailed parameters such as camera ownership (whether government or private), geographical coordinates, coverage areas, and data storage capacity, creating a robust and comprehensive surveillance network.

IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, noted that Project Netra is a time-tested system successfully implemented in other states and expressed confidence in its potential to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Goa Police.

DGP Alok Kumar stated that the YouTube and WhatsApp channels will bridge the gap between the Goa Police and the community, ensuring transparency and fostering effective communication.
