PONDA: A woman from Usgao has lodged a complaint with the Ponda Police, alleging that she was cheated of Rs 15 lakh by Sagar Naik, a resident of Nagar-Curti. The accused reportedly promised her a government teaching position at a school in Marcel but has since gone missing.

According to police sources, Naik is believed to be employed with the IRB police. Following a complaint from the woman’s husband, an FIR has been registered.
The incident, which occurred in 2022, involved the accused taking Rs 15 lakh in both cash and online transactions. Despite the promise of employment, Naik neither provided the job nor returned the money. Consequently, the complaint has been filed under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code for cheating.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to locate the absconding accused.
