In a noteworthy initiative, the Goa Police have successfully returned 55 recovered mobile phones, including several high-end models valued at nearly ₹13 lakh, to their rightful owners.
The recovery was made possible through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal — a national system designed to trace and block lost or stolen mobile devices.

Speaking about the operation, North Goa Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta said, “Whenever we receive a complaint, we immediately upload the device details to the CEIR portal, which helps us track and locate the phones.”
Director General of Police Alok Kumar commended the coordinated efforts of police teams across North Goa, lauding their commitment to recovering stolen property and restoring public trust.
Officials said the initiative has not only helped citizens reclaim their valuable possessions but also strengthened confidence in police efforts to curb theft and property-related crimes.
