In a move aimed at strengthening tribal political representation ahead of upcoming elections, Ramesh Tawadkar, Goa’s Tribal Welfare Minister, led a delegation to meet Arjun Ram Meghwal, seeking early implementation of the Goa ST Representation Act, 2025.
The delegation included leaders Ravindra Gaonkar and Prakash Velip, who collectively pressed for timely action to ensure adequate Scheduled Tribe (ST) representation in the state’s political framework.
During the meeting, discussions focused on expediting the legislative and procedural aspects required to bring the Act into force. Engagement with the Ministry of Law and Justice is currently underway to facilitate implementation.
The initiative gains significance as Goa prepares for the 2027 Assembly elections, with the government aiming to secure proper political representation for ST communities within the stipulated timeline.
