In a major push towards technology-driven road safety enforcement, the Goa Transport Department, in coordination with the Public Works Department (PWD), will install AI-based traffic signals equipped with smart cameras at 92 locations across the state in the first phase.
Transport Director Pravimal Abhishek said the advanced cameras will function round the clock and automatically detect traffic violations such as triple-seat riding, number plate violations and lane indiscipline. The system is aimed at ensuring consistent and unbiased enforcement of traffic rules.
He added that the initiative will significantly enhance monitoring capabilities and help authorities respond more effectively to violations, thereby improving overall road discipline.
The move is expected to play a key role in strengthening road safety measures across Goa, while marking a step forward in the state’s adoption of intelligent traffic management systems.
