Goa Winter Assembly Session Well-Planned, Says Speaker Ganesh Gaonkar; Minister Tawadkar Confident Ahead of Proceedings

Ahead of the commencement of the Winter Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Speaker Dr Ganesh Gaonkar on Sunday said that the functioning of the House has been thoroughly planned and assured that there was no cause for concern. He also appealed to the media to extend its cooperation to ensure smooth proceedings during the session.

Meanwhile, Minister Ramesh Tawadkar expressed confidence as the Assembly session gets underway, stating that he does not require any special preparation due to his prior experience as a cabinet minister between 2012 and 2017. Tawadkar said he continues to handle the same portfolios as earlier, with the exception of the Art and Culture department.

Reflecting on his earlier tenure, the minister said he had previously been in charge of the Tribal Welfare department and has since further strengthened its functioning. Commenting on the Art and Culture department, Tawadkar noted that it is largely free from controversy, barring the Kala Academy issue. He added that overall, it remains a positive and important department for the state.

The remarks come as political attention focuses on the Winter Session, which is expected to witness heated debates between the treasury benches and the opposition on several key issues concerning Goa.
