In a surprising and significant update, the Government of India has revealed that Goa’s coastline is now officially longer by 33 kilometres. A new survey conducted by central agencies has measured the state’s shoreline at 193 km—up from the 160 km recorded in the 1970s.
Union Minister of State for Earth Sciences Jitendra Singh presented the revised figures in the Rajya Sabha, noting that the updated measurement will play an important role in future coastal planning, infrastructure development, and disaster management strategies.
