BICHOLIM: Burglars decamped with gold ornaments and cash valued at
about Rs 31 lakh from two houses in Kulan-Sanquelim.
In the first incident, burglars entered the house of one Zahida
Ayub Khan (45) from Parvatinagar in Kulan-Sanquelim and stole gold
ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh.
In her complaint, Khan said she had gone to her relative’s place
at Panjim for four days and on her return on Saturday, found two
cupboards open in her house.
The stolen gold ornaments included necklaces (7), earrings (9),
todas (6), chains (4), bracelets (2), finger rings (9), Patlis (2)
and 30 gms of gold.
Burglars then entered a second house barely a few metres away and
stole gold chains worth Rs 57,000 and cash of Rs 14,000.
Acting on the complaints, police pressed a dog squad and
fingerprint experts into service. The Bicholim Police has
registered the offence and is investigating the case.
