PANJIM: Congress party in a charge sheet against the State BJP government prepared at its Chintan Shivir alleged that the State is “a witness” to 30 months of high-pitched talk accompanied by stagnation, growing corruption, breakdown of law and order and a government without accountability.
It also accused the government of spending money from the public treasury to support organizations masquerading as cultural, literary and spiritual ones which spread division and hate in society and are wedded to the ‘Hinduvta brand’.
Over centralisation of power and decision making has paralyzed the bureaucracy making it more corrupt, the charge sheet alleged and added that corruption is at an all-time high with “tentacles of corruption eroding all the layers of administration from the ministerial to the lowest level”.
The Congress alleged that every contract that the government is entering into and every license and NOC granted by the government is after pecuniary benefits only. The charge sheet alleged that every project started by the government was incomplete, citing the example of the South Goa district hospital.
The party alleged that there was an atmosphere of fear in the State with contractors, government employees, private teachers targeted for victimization in case of any dissent, complaints for raising genuine grievances.
It also alleged that the government is using various government financial schemes selectively for the benefit of party workers and also to control dissent and freedom of expression in society. Congress workers are intimated and the police machinery and all instruments of the government are used to instil fear.
