panjim: The government on Friday announced the State Awards to Teachers for the year 2019-20.

In the primary category, Avinash Parkhe, Special Educator Disha School for Special Children- Panjim has been awarded the Best teacher in North Goa, while in the South; the award has gone to Amita ‘Shama’ Dessai of Government High School, Agonda-Canacona.
Two teachers from North Goa- Gopal Sawant, Assistant Teacher of Government High Schools, Menkurem- Bicholim; and Nanda Majik, Assistant Teacher Government High School, Nagargao-Valpoi have been selected in the Secondary Teacher category and Shrikrishna Vaze, Art Teacher from SKK High School Keri-Ponda has been selected from the South district.
Special School Headmistress from St Xavier Academy- Old Goa; and Maria Murenda Miranda, Headmistress, Government High School Morpirala- Quepem, have been selected under the High School Headmaster Category.
Vithoba Bagli, Teacher from Shree Kamleshwar Higher Secondary School has been selected as the best higher secondary teacher, while Rajeev Desai, principal of Shree Damodar Higher Secondary School, has been awarded in the Principal category.
