BICHOLIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced that the government will start ophthalmic centre at Sanquelim PHC, while a dialysis centre will be opened at Bicholim.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a programme “Vision For All”, an eye-check-up and surgery camp organised by Directorate of Health Services, at Hirabai Zantye Hall, here.

“No child who is below the age of 15-year with vision defect would go without spectacles and even we have decided to increase the hospitals where eye surgery would be taken up. Ophthalmic centre would be started in Sanquelim PHC by April and we would see to it that no senior citizen with cataract goes blind,” said Sawant.
He also announced that dialysis centre would be started in Bicholim CHC.
“There is already a dialysis centre at Valpoi and after discussion with the Health Minister we have decided to open another dialysis centre at Bicholim,” the Chief Minister said.
“The government has decided to go to each area and detect people with eye problem. He claimed that the response of the people shows that the government is undertaking schemes for the people,” he added.
“Our government is conscious about the health of the people and in the year to come there would be several health related programmes in the city, towns and villages,” Dr Sawant said adding that more than 100 camps of these types would be organised in the State.
Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane said, “The camp of this type is organised due to COVID-19 as people were unable to visit the hospitals.”
