Greek National Held in Assagao With Charas, Ecstasy Worth ₹23.8 Lakh

In a major breakthrough, Anjuna Police conducted a successful narcotics raid at Sonarkhed in Assagao, Bardez, leading to the arrest of a foreign national and seizure of drugs worth over ₹23 lakh.

The accused, Sokratis Michailidis (59), a Greek national currently residing in Assagao, was apprehended for illegal possession of narcotic substances. Acting on credible intelligence, the police team carried out a well-coordinated operation that resulted in the recovery of 2.271 kg of charas valued at approximately ₹22.71 lakh, along with 10.77 grams of ecstasy worth around ₹1.10 lakh.

The raid was led by Police Inspector Suraj H. Gawas, along with a team of officers who executed the operation with precision.

Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Mapusa and has been remanded to 10 days of police custody.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officials, including SDPO Mapusa Wilson C. D’Souza and SP (North) Harishchandra Madkaikar.
