VERNA: In a nail-biting quarterfinal clash of the 1st Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy 2025, Guardian Angel Sports Club emerged victorious over Curtorim Gymkhana with a 4-2 win in a tie-breaker. The match was played at the Verna Panchayat Ground.
The match began with Guardian Angel’s Reagan Costa striking early in the 10th minute, giving his team a crucial lead. However, the joy was short-lived as a defensive error led to a self-goal, allowing Curtorim Gymkhana to equalize before halftime.
The second half saw intense action, with both teams creating equal opportunities to take the lead. Despite their efforts, neither side managed to convert, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.
In the tie-breaker, Guardian Angel’s Fedrich, Glesson, Adriano, and Reagan delivered clinical finishes, while Curtorim Gymkhana’s Fredy and Floyd found the target. Guardian Angel’s stellar performance secured their spot in the semifinals.
