Had informed Sao Jacinto islanders about discrepancies in draft CZMP 2021: Sarpanch

VASCO: Chicalim sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira on Wednesday said he had informed that Sao Jacinto islanders on the exclusion of their houses, the chapel and other structures in draft CZMP 2021.

However the sarpanch said he was kept in dark on the Tuesday’s press conference held with regards to exclusion of houses in draft CZMP Plan. 

The sarpanch said, “During the panchayat meeting held recently, we have given suggestions and objections on the draft CZMP and are also waiting for people’s suggestions and objections to submit to the government.” 

Pereira said he was the person who informed people of Sao Jacinto Island about the discrepancies in the draft CZMP plan 2021 wherein the island has been shown in the Port limits. “But sadly I was kept in dark,” he said.

When asked why was he absent for the press briefing on Tuesday when many locals from the Island gathered to highlight these discrepancies in the draft CZMP, Pereira said he was not informed nor invited for the press briefing.

He was surprised that being the sarpanch, he was kept away from such event wherein he has been always stood and worked for the welfare of the people of Chicalim.

The Sarpanch said he was ready to take villagers to meet Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, who would have listened to their issues and could have officially done something. 

“Few days ago, at the panchayat meeting we had a discussion on the draft CZMP and found some loopholes. We have come up with our suggestions and objections. We are waiting for the people’s suggestions and objections which we will combine and forward them to the concerned government authorities,” Pereira added.
