CALANGUTE: Six persons have been booked by Calangute police for allegedly cheating a Haryana businessman to the tune of Rs 35 lakh.
On Friday evening, Manpreet Singh, a native of Haryana, lodged a complaint with the Calangute police station, stating that accused Swapnil Dessai approached him with an offer to become a partner in his partnership firm Blue Bell Hospitality in order to run Blue Bell beach resort at Candolim and induced him to invest Rs 35 lakh in the partnership. Thereafter, between April 2023 and October 2023 the accused fraudulently and dishonestly transferred the money from the partnership account to the other accused, identified as Alzira Dessai, Sachin Bagariya, Sangita Bagariya and Drupad Patel, for their benefit and misappropriated the money of the partnership firm thereby cheating the complainant of Rs 35 lakh.
