PANJIM: Herald’s Guilherme Almeida won the best English journalist award at the Press Day celebrations organised by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Thursday, on the birth anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, at the chamber’s hall, here.
Lambert Mascarenhas received the lifetime achievement award.
A number of functions were organised all over the state to mark the Press Day. Functions were held at Kala Academy and Institute Menezes Braganza as well.
At the Institute Menezes Braganza function, Journalist Cyril D’Cunha delivered a talk on ‘Mass Media Communication and Journalism’ while Mumbai-based Journalist Radhakrishna Narvekar spoke on ‘Role of Changing Scenario and Journalism’.
The GCCI function, where journalists were felicitated, was attended by many top industrialists and journalists.
The award for best vernacular journalist went to journalist Suhasini Prabhugaokar, while electronic media award went to Pramod Acharya.
