The BCCI recently announced a massive cash reward of 131 crore for Team India after their historic victory in the 2026 T20 World Cup, where India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. The prize is the largest ever awarded to the Indian cricket team, surpassing the 125 crore reward given after their previous triumph in 2024.
How much did the Indian team receive after winning the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup?
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the BCCI awarded a cash bonus of 3 million dollars to the Indian team after they defeated Pakistan in the final in South Africa.
Apart from the team bonus, Yuvraj Singh received an additional 1 crore for hitting six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad during the tournament. Each member of the support staff was also rewarded with 15 lakh.
In addition to the BCCI reward, several state governments announced their own incentives for the players. Among them, Rohit Sharma, who was part of the 2007 squad, and Ajit Agarkar received 10 lakh each from the Maharashtra government.
