PANJIM: Gearing up for the 2022 Assembly elections, the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) will begin a month-long special summary revision of the electoral rolls of Assembly constituencies from November 1, 2021 with January 5, next year, as the final publication date.

The target intervention will be new electors, who will be attaining the age of 18 years as on January 1, 2022. Voters who have either passed away or shifted residence or surrendered their voter ID, will be deleted from the photo electoral roll, as per the guidelines laid down by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Chief Electoral Officer Kunal on Monday met representatives of political parties comprising Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Goa Forward Party and Nationalist Congress Party. The political parties were informed about the summary revision schedule and to ensure that maximum enrollment takes place.
Addressing media persons post the meeting, Additional CEO Narayan Sawant said that the revised photo electoral roll will be published on November 1 with a month-long period for filing objections and suggestions.
He said that special campaigns will be held on November 20, 21, 27 and 28, with all applications to be disposed by December 20. The final publication of electoral roll will take place on January 5, 2022.
Meanwhile, the electronic voting machines (EVM) and voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) for the upcoming elections have already arrived in the State.
