PANJIM, NOV 12
Institute of Psychiatric and Human Behaviour (IPHB) at Bambolim failed to furnish report of the victim to Goa police in case of a German minor rape case involving state Education Minister Babush Monserratte’s son, Rohit.
Police Inspector Tushar Vernekar told Children’s Court today that IPHB has refused to give report of the victim despite police requesting for the same.
Calangute Police chargesheeted Rohit in January 12, 2009 for sexually abusing the minor daughter and sending her lewd text messages after the German mother filed a complain in October 2008.
Vernekar during the cross-examination further said that the mother had communicated to the police that she was not interested in pursuing the matter.
“Complainant had recently sent an email to Calangute police station informing that she was not interested in pursuing the matter. She did not produce birth certificate of the victim,” he told the Court.
The Court, last week had ordered fresh and final warrants against the German mother-daughter, as they once again dishonoured earlier warrant directing them to appear for deposition.
The court also gave final opportunity to the prosecution to record statements of both German witnesses. The Court had earlier ordered issuing three summonses giving ample chance for duo to depose in the trial, which they failed to respond again. The matter was being adjourned since February 16, 2010.
The Government last month sought German Consul’s intervention to record statement of the victim via video-conferencing, which again resulted in failure. Vernekar, earlier, told the Court that Government of Germany has not responded to Goa police request to furnish IP addresses of the German pair.
The mother, who pursued the case vigorously, refused to cooperate with the case trial. In an email communication to the Court in August, she expressed unwillingness to depose before the Court.
After the case was registered on October 13, there were many ups and downs as the mother later opted to withdraw the complaint which however could not happen.
