Asking Silva to recollect that it was not him (Churchill), but the present government that had given permission to Raheja in 2015 to construct the 88 bungalows, Churchill accused Silva of taking bribes from Raheja and another hotel project in Benaulim.
Alemao was reacting to the allegations levelled against him by Silva on Thursday. He further accused Silva of corruption and ignoring Benaulim constituency. He claimed that the MLA was only inaugurating works started by him (Churchill).
“Caitu was closing his ears all the time when the Raheja project was being passed by his government, and when people came to his door complaining, he is pointing fingers at me. It is very bad and let God forgive him,” said Churchill.
He added, “A file of a hotel project full of illegalities is in Caitu’s house, instead of being in the panchayat. It is quite evident that he has settled for a huge amount of money.”
Churchill also confirmed that he would contest the next Assembly election from Benaulim constituency. Stating that he would be an independent candidate, Churchill said that if the need arises or if he gets an offer from the Congress, he would accept it and join the party.
Churchill has also criticised the government’s decision to declassify the coconut tree and called it a wrong move. He added, “The coconut tree is the lifeline of Goa and most important for the people, mostly Banaulikars.”
