PANJIM: Union Minister for Environment and Forest (MoEF) Prakash Javadekar on Saturday stated that change in the current political scenario could occur only if “young minds” joined the field.
He was addressing a gathering through a video conference at the ongoing ‘Women’s Economic Forum’ in Goa. His topic was ‘Young politician: changing the World View and How Nations can collaborate in the New World Over.’
“Politics today require new ideas, new blood and all this can happen if young minds join us. However, it is very unfortunate that people today think that politics is the last resort. But, that is not true, as right from birth to death, every political decision of the government has its impact on every person’s life,” said Javadekar.
He pointed out that the Modi government’s campaign encouraged young minds to be a part of Indian politics, and requested the well-intentioned people to join in a bid to push out the bad people from the field. He said, “If good people don’t come forward and join politics, bad people will continue to be part of this system.”
Javadekar also rued how politics was the only field where people didn’t retire. Instead, they had to be pushed out by the voters. He stated that these voters needed younger alternatives.
He also appealed to women to join the profession. He said, “Women are considered to be more compassionate, courageous, consistent and committed, than the man. They can add value to politics.”
