PANJIM: The Mayem bill is a frivolous piece of legislation and has been brought as part of an elaborate plan to “pull wool over the eyes of the people”, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President John Fernandes said.
Speaking to media persons, Fernandes said that the twin assurances made by the Chief Minister were nothing but words. “The Bill is a frivolous legislation. The property of evacuees during war comes under the Geneva Convention and is under the purview of the Central government. The State government is only a custodian of the property,” Fernandes said.
“The state government has passed the bill to snatch the votes of the people of Mayem. The bill has no meaning,” Fernandes claimed.
