MAYEM: Goa Water Resources Department (WRD) team on Wednesday visited Kankumbi to inspect the plugging work of Kalsa.
It may be recalled that the Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal on April 17 directed Karnataka to plug both the vents of Kalsa canal before May 31.
The WRD team headed by Secretary Parimal Rai visited the site and sought to know from Karnataka officials about the progress of the plugging work.
Narsinha Anniavar, executive engineer of Karnataka Niravari Nigum, claimed that they have completed over 60 per cent of the work of the first vent, while the work of second vent is in progress and it will be completed before May 31.
However, the WRD team led by Rai along with executive engineers Shreekant Patil and Premanand Kamat found that not even one of the vents was fully completed.
Rajendra Kerkar said: “It is impossible for the Karnataka Niravari Nigum to complete the work in the next three days in the manner the work is going on and it may take more days.”
