PONDA: The Kavlem gram sabha on Sunday raised objections to an upcoming residential complex at Varchawada-Dhavali and demanded with the panchayat to obtain an ‘affidavit’ from the contractor to prevent him from encroaching onto the road.
The villagers suspect that the contractor has encroached on the road and gutter. They demanded with the panchayat to obtain an affidavit from the contractor so that he does not encroach on the road and that parking facility and space will be provided and that the provided parking space will not be converted into shops later on after obtaining the licenses.
Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar said after Town and Country Planning Department gives approval, the panchayat cannot deny permission to any project and in case citizens have any complaint, they should approach the court in this matter.
Speaking about development works, Kavlekar said the panchayat will undertake development of the existing ground situated near the panchayat office at an estimated cost of about Rs 1.5 crore with cooperation from PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar.
“All the panchayat members are visiting the residential complex society members to appeal to them to segregate their dry waste, plastic and give it to the panchayat and dispose wet garbage in their own premises till the panchayat makes some arrangement,” said the sarpanch.
He further said protection wall of the nullah passing from Kavlem fields has been completed and appealed to the farmers to cultivate their land this year, which were kept fallow for three years due to ongoing works of the nullah.
Kavlekar appealed to the farmers to obtain benefit of the government schemes by forming groups.
