‘Kidnapped’ minor found in Assam

MARGAO: The 11-year-old girl who was kidnapped by three Assam natives on August 31 was rescued by Maina-Curtorim police in Assam on Wednesday. She was kept in a protective home and will be sent for medical tests.

On August 31, police registered an FIR against Assam natives Jairul Islam, Khiril Islam and Rabbul Islam for allegedly kidnapping the girl. A team of Goa Police had gone to Assam to trace the three accused and the minor girl. While the girl was found, the accused are sill at large.
According to information, the girl was staying with her parents in a rented house in Loutolim. She had informed her parents that she was going to school in civil clothes for a cultural function. The three accused were her neighbours, and according to a teacher, were seen with the girl outside the school. Her parents registered a complaint with Maina-Curtorim police on the same night, as the girl did not return home.
