PERNEM: Kolhapur native one Anil Hegde died on the spot in a road accident reported on Tuesday evening at Naibagh, Pernem.
According to sources, the accident occurred around 8.30 pm when truck driver Vilas Hedge, who was proceeding from Pernem to Maharashtra, lost control and rammed into a vehicle, parked along the roadside. The impact was such that the cleaner Anil died on spot while Vilas sustained serious injuries.

Pernem fire team rushed to the site and removed Anil and Vilas from the cabin. Unfortunately Anil died on the spot while Vilas was shifted to GMC for treatment.
