PORVORIM: Admitting that the State does not have records with regard to the lands registered with various sections, Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte on Friday announced the creation of a land bank of government, comunidade and land that have been encroached upon through GIS Mapping.
“We need to create land bank and have records of registered government land, comunidade land, encroachments and unused land,” the Minister said.
As against the earlier method of demarcating the land, the government intends to make use of geo-mapping or GIS mapping for land survey, Khaunte informed the House. “The process will be completed in the next 18 months,” the Minister said while replying to the cut motion moved by the opposition to the demands for grants for Revenue.
The Minister also said to avoid any fraud, there is need to set up records of rights of property.
Stating that the Revenue Department is working towards the time bound delivery of services, Khaunte said the government is in the process of amending the Goa, Daman and Diu Land Revenue (Partition of Holdings) Rules, 1969 to ensure that partition cases are disposed off within 90 days of application.
“Government is planning to undertake all necessary amendments to the Land Revenue Code, as per the current requirements,” he said.
Referring to the amendment introduced for the Agriculture Tenancy Act, Khaunte said three months will be granted to mamlatdars and deputy mamlatdars to dispose of tenancy cases referred from the civil courts.
The Minister said the process to digitise the records available at the district administration have commenced. Government will also soon introduce the case monitoring system in the collectorates, he said.
