Locals raise eyebrows on Blackhole tech for disposing Sonsoddo waste

MARGAO: A presentation on the Blackhole technology for garbage disposal was held at the Margao Municipal Council.

MARGAO: A presentation on the Blackhole technology for garbage disposal was held at the Margao Municipal Council. Though the proposal appeared to be the most fitting solution, several questions were raised as to how the technology and machine will handle the mixed waste at Sonsoddo.
The need for proper demonstration on the functioning of the machine marked the end of the discussion.
Dr Amen Dhyllon, CEO of TeslaGreen INC during the presentation, which was attended by councillors, locals and members of the solid waste management committee, showed TeslaGreen INC’s preparedness to install a 1000-tonne per day garbage disposal plant at Sonsoddo. If planned, TeslaGreen INC revealed that it may cost nearly Rs 21 crore for the entire set up.
Dr Dhyllon informed that the company installs plants with capacity ranging from 1 tonne to 1000 tonnes.
The proposal to clear 1000 tonnes of garbage at Sonsoddo with the help of plasma heating technology sounded too farfetched for the audience, which led to a lengthy question and answer session.
The CEO said, “TeslaGreen INC has several plants across Malaysia and have been doing great a job. Several plants of various capacities have been functioning in Bangalore and Hyderabad for several years.”
When RTI activist Sriram Raiturkar questioned as to how the plant will handle the mixed waste with heavy metals, ceramics, construction debris, mud and glass, the CEO said, “These are components in the dump, which won’t get processed; the same will have to be screened out before the machine is fed with the garbage for which we will need a two-level screening machine.”
