Loliem Panchayat unhappy with draft RP-2021

The committee members of Loliem-Polem Panchayat, specially constituted to deliberate on Regional Plan 2021, on Sunday expressed unhappiness with the final draft prepared for the panchayat despite objections raised by them.
The committee members at the meeting discussed that the panchayat area has been more so declared for no settlement zone and the committee members opined that the people residing in the village are living in a nucleus set-up family and they do not have place to get themselves get away, if they desire to detach.
The panchayat is located where it is surrounded by the Arabian Sea, the rivers where no construction activity can be taken within 100-500 mtrs. That apart there comes the National Highway where no construction can be taken within 45 mtrs.
The forest department and the Communidade and the temple (Devalaya) have staked their claims, leaving little land for the villagers to have an exodus leaving themselves to fight against each other to spread their tentacles for settlement for a better tomorrow.
In December 2010, strong objections were raised by the select committee members with the Town and Country Planning board and the same recommendations that were made were ignored while those of the money powered were accepted by the board. These observations on the part of the T&CP made the committee members to cast severe apprehensions on the role played by the government.
It has been decided to convene a meeting on February 27 at the panchayat and those seeking to raise any objections have been asked to give in writing pertaining to any of the grievances.
The draft plan is displayed at the panchayat for the public to ascertain and to file objections.
Apart from the panchayat members those in the committee are Subash Pagi, F Rebello, Mahesh Varik, S Prashant and Aldin Fernandes to air their grievances if any pertaining to the RP-2021.
